The Music
I have been an audio engineer for a long time. I started out working with my friends' bands and on my own music. I then worked in recording studios, most notably in the Jersey Shore area as house engineer at Butterfield's Studios in Red Bank and with Grammy award winning producer/writer/arranger Tony Camillo at Venture Sound in Somerville, NJ. I moved on to live sound for industrial and artistic purposes and on to broadcast where I have been working predominantly since 1998.
Much of my broadcast work has been behind the scenes doing everything in the audio engineering spectrum from A-2 to A-1 from studio audience front of house mixer to communications. Most recently I have had the good fortune to take over a position at ABC television where I am mixing the music that you all enjoy at home on The View. From time to time I will post the YouTube videos that The View posts of those performances.
There are many challenges. It is live TV. The rehearsals are fast. The TV direction and production are very demanding and particular in how they want the show represented and often the artists, record labels, musical directors, music producers and engineers all have concerns to be addressed. All in all I am delighted that my career has taken me full circle and that my primary focus is on music production.
First is my mix of Steve Martin and Edie Brickell on The View. I was fortunate to have my predecessor, the Grammy award winner Greg Thompson, riding shotgun.

ZZ Ward on The View -
ZZ Ward was great on The View. It was really cool of her to stop up to the control room and check in with me personally to talk about the mix. She is the the real deal in an industry of smoke and mirrors. Click this link to check it out.
